Editors' drummer Ed Lay takes time out from his rock 'n' roll life to e-mail Lorelei Reddin about their date at the Isle of Wight Festival this weekend
What are you and the lads up to at the moment Ed? "Digesting my Sunday dinner in preparation for our gig at the Glasgow Academy."
Are you looking forward to playing the Isle of Wight Festival?
"Absolutely. It will be the largest crowd we have ever played in front of, by some distance. It is hard not to get excited and a little nervous about that!"
What can fans expect from your show that night? "Guitars, bass, drums and singing."
What's your own favourite Editors track to perform and why?
"At the moment, I'm enjoying All Sparks. It was our last single and it got quite a bit of radio play. Therefore, more people seem to know it so they dance and sing along to it, which is much fun."
Which song by another artists would you most like to call your own? "Running up that Hill by Kate Bush."
What's on your rider? Are you very demanding?! "Not at all demanding! As long as there is plenty of water and clean towels, we are usually happy enough. One small thing we do insist on though, is a small pad of paper and a pen, so we can write down our comments for the day about each other. We don't show them to anyone, we just burn the pad."
What other bands are you listening to at the moment? "Howling Bells: Beautiful songs and a staggering singer in Juanita Stein.
"The National: They released an album Alligator last year which has yet to be bettered."
What's the most rock 'n' roll thing that's ever happened to you?
"Everything I do is incredibly rock 'n' roll, so everyday life is one big long journey of the stuff. Man."
Do you have any crazy fan stories? "Not really, all our fans seem relatively sane..at the moment!"
Sum yourself up in one sentence "Haplessly clumsy and unpredictably selfish."
Editors are on tomorrow night's (sat) Isle of Wight line-up. The bill for the three-day event also includes Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Richard Ashcroft, Lou Reed, The Prodigy, Placebo, Maximo Park, Kubb, Dirty Pretty Things and The Kooks.
Southampton's own Delays make an appearance on Sunday night.
All tickets sold out within hours of Coldplay's only live European date this summer being announced.
