OPEN spaces around Winchester city centre flats have been given a six-figure makeover.
Landscaping has been redone at Godson, Lawn and Windsor Houses in a £100,000 improvement scheme by the city council.
Some 100,000 sunken and damaged bricks have been removed and replaced with a new sub-base and coloured block paving.
Drainage has been improved, broken paving slabs replaced, and 15 new manhole covers and 80 bollards have been installed.
Eight bench seats have been strategically placed, with new turfed areas and planting to complete the relaxed feel of the area.
