IT was the day they had anticipated for months a chance to party with hundreds of other children from 56 special needs schools across the south.
With clouds providing a perfect respite after several days of scorching heat, it was all smiles as youngsters of varying disabilities enjoyed a day of fun at Paultons Park, in Ower.
About 1,150 children and their Rotary sponsors enjoyed the KidsOut day, an annual event supported by Rotary charities for more than 20 years.
"They have really had their fill of it, and Paultons have pulled out all the stops. Everybody has had a super time you can see it on their faces," said Colin Cook, Rotary district co-ordinator for the day.
"It was a fantastic day," added Mike Smith, district governor elect of Rotary International's District 1110, which includes clubs in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Dorset and Wiltshire.
"Having a party for 1,200 kids at a place like Paultons Park is an out-of-this-world experience."
Paultons marketing manager, Rob Griffiths, said the theme park was delighted to host the event for the 15th year running.
"The Rotary members work tirelessly to make things runs smoothly. It's fantastic to see the children enjoying themselves," he said.
KidsOut saw more than 27,000 children entertained by Rotary clubs throughout the country.
