SAFETY checks are to be carried out on the stretch of road where a Hedge End man was killed last month.
The move comes as Eastleigh councillors, representing Hedge End, agreed to ask the borough's engineering experts to liaise with the police and Hampshire County Council, which manages the road.
Eastleigh Council traffic engineer, Jenny Rees, said that some "positives" had come out of the tragic situation and that it was not being ignored.
She referred to a meeting of the casualty reduction partnership made up of police and representatives of the county and borough councils.
The county council has said that once the current roadworks in Tollbar Way were completed signage would also be reviewed in the location of the accident.
Jonathan Springall, 24, of Thurmell Close, was killed when the Toyota Supra he was driving left the road at Tollbar Way and overturned while being followed by a police car on May 14.
Liberal Democrat Louise Bloom, who represents Grange Park, initially raised concerns over the road in the wake of that and other incidents. She said: "What I am trying to do is move things forward so I can say to residents of Grange Park this is what we're trying to do'."
Keith House, the leader of Eastleigh council and member for Wildern ward, said it needed to be made more obvious where the residential area and 40 miles-per-hour speed limit started when driving from the Denhams corner roundabout towards the newly-built roundabout at Maunsell Way.
"By the time you get to the roundabout you should be driving as if you are in a residential area," he said.
A police spokesman confirmed that inquiries into the fatal accident were ongoing.
