FAREHAM folk will get a big say in shaping the future of their borough.
A campaign will feature 30 buses carrying the message "I'm shaping Fareham's future you can too. Help prepare the new borough plan".
The council's ideas for future development, taking into account government and regional requirements, are contained in a document called "Core Strategy Preferred Options", forming the basis of the consultation period.
Residents will be able to talk to planning officers at one of 16 events around the borough or attend one of the three workshops scheduled to take place from now until July 31.
Copies of the Preferred Options document and response form will be available at all events.
Councillor David Swanbrow, executive member for planning and transportation, said: "This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in planning our future.
"Using borough-wide buses to encourage community involvement seemed like an excellent way of spreading the message.
"It is crucially important that our residents are given the chance to tell us whether our ideas reflect their thoughts and are on the right road.
"That is why we need to highlight that they are our partners in the future of Fareham.
"During this consultation period there are almost 20 events coming up. These give residents borough-wide the opportunity to get involved, to see what we are suggesting and to tell us if we are heading in the right direction."
Residents can also read and comment on the core strategy by calling the policy planning section of the council on 01329 236100 ext 2318 /2363 or by logging on to www.fareham.gov.uk.
