THE dangers of pouring petrol on a barbecue were highlighted at a junior citizenship day.
Six pupils from Hightown Primary School were invited to St Mary's Stadium for the event organised by Hampshire police, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, environmental experts and British Transport Police.
Sian Cook, Year 6 teacher at Hightown Primary, said: "The children all enjoyed it and we will be working on what we learnt from the event in the classroom.
"We have even invited the fire lady to our school as the advice she gave was invaluable."
The event comes after two brothers were badly burned in a back-garden accident in Southampton.
