A STREET could be named after popular Eastleigh head teacher the late John Judd who was born in the town.
On Tuesday Eastleigh councillors will be asked to approve the name Judd Close for a new road off Woodside Avenue leading to new flats at the Channon Retail Park.
Educated at Chamberlayne Road Boys School, Mr Judd qualified as a teacher and went back to teach there before moving to the senior boys school in Eastleigh.
He was appointed head of Twyford Church of England School and returned to Eastleigh in 1947 to become head of North End County Secondary School in Leigh Road.
Mr Judd served as a magistrate for 30 years and was chairman of the Eastleigh bench from 1966 to 1974.
In 1978 he was awarded the MBE for his services to the public.
