NOTHING was going to stop them watching England's game against Ecuador not even their wedding.

Football fans Jamie Swartz and Leanne Hayward were horrified when they discovered that the World Cup clash coincided with their own match of the day.

So the soccer-crazy couple arranged for televisions to be installed at the wedding reception so they could catch the second half.

They arrived five minutes too late to witness David Beckham's match-winning goal - but saw the rest of the game that earned England a place in the quarter-finals.

The Eastleigh couple set their wedding date last October because it fell one day before the tenth anniversary of their first date.

However, the romantic dream threatened to turn sour when it transpired that the wedding would coincide with the England game.

The couple arrived at All Saints Church in Desborough Road, Eastleigh, as the game kicked off.

After the service they walked swiftly down the aisle and climbed into a stretch limo outside the church.

The couple were taken on a romantic ride and had photographs taken at Eastleigh's bandstand before being whisked to the reception at Eastleigh Railway Institute.

They arrived to be greeted by the news that Beckham had just scored.

Jamie, 28, said: "Oh my word! I take back everything I said about him!"

Leanne, 25, showed her support for the team by lifting her wedding dress up to reveal a red and white "Come on England" rosette strapped to her right leg.

Inside, the couple regularly returning to a television on the stage to get an update on England's progress.

When the referee blew the final whistle Jamie raised a glass to Sven's men and told his guests: "England win 1-0 big cheer!"
