HORTON the elephant hears a tiny voice calling from a speck of dust and discovers Who, the tiniest planet in the Universe.
Unfortunately, no one else in the Jungle believes him, but Horton remains steadfast.
The audience was instantly transported through colourful costumes, fanciful scenery and lively choreography into the surreal world of Dr Seuss.
Essentially a visual delight, the young performers were not always audible; even with microphones voices must be projected and would benefit from speaking slower. Imaginative lighting enhanced atmospheric intent, but there were times when faces were obliterated in shadow. Tom Hansford enchanted as faithful Horton, combining a melancholy demeanour with a crystal clear voice.
His duet with Aedan Goodenough (Jo Jo), Alone In The Universe, was particularly poignant. Rochelle Thomas was captivating as the feisty Maisie La Bird while Anastasia Quinton Smith was charismatic as Gertrude McFuzz. Great fun.
