A GRANDFATHER battling cancer returned to his Southampton tower block home where two hero firefighters died tackling a blaze to find he had been burgled.
David Cooper, right, discovered thieves had struck when he was allowed to go back to his Shirley Towers flat for the first time after extensive repairs were carried out.
The 56-year-old said he was “disgusted”
that at a time when the community had been pulling together, thieves struck.
Residents from 29 of the 46 evacuated council owned flats have now begun moving back to their homes.
