A PRESTIGIOUS Isle of Wight garden is to have an unusual addition this summer hemp.
The cannabis plant, which has a low narcotic value and is primarily used for clothing and fuel, will be part of a new bed displaying plants used for fibre production before synthetics were introduced.
A second special bed to be planted in the Walled Garden at Osborne House will feature "everlasting" flowers that can be dried for display purposes. English Heritage gardener Deb Goodenough said: "These beautiful plants have an important use to this day."
