THE family of a Hampshire mother and daughter killed in their own home have spoken of their grief and sorrow for the first time.
Liz Bellinger was overcome with emotion as she told how “no one will know the pain” she was feeling following the deaths of her daughter Stephanie Bellinger and granddaughter Lili.
Mrs Bellinger was thanking generous members of the public who had shown kindness and support to her family following the tragedy earlier this year as she collected a cheque at a local supermarket.
Stephanie, 24, and ten-monthold Lili were found stabbed to death at their house in Myrtle Avenue, Totton, on February 27.
Stephanie’s two-year-old son Charlie is understood to have also been in the house but was unharmed.
Led by employee and close family friend Jan Clements, supermarket Asda held a twoday collection for the toddler.
As well as a £300 donation, staff also presented Mrs Bellinger with bouquets and a collection of clothes for Charlie from their George department.
Mrs Bellinger broke down as she saw first hand the generosity of local people and said the money would go to help Charlie’s future education, perhaps investing it in a new computer when he needed it.
The 61-year-old said: “I’d like to thank everybody for the help they have given us through this pain and sorrow that we’re going through. Thank you so much.
“With the loss of my daughter and granddaughter we’d just like to say thank you to the public both here in Totton and around the world really for their support and to Asda for this donation for Charlie.”
Mrs Bellinger added: “Everybody has shown us so much support and kindness throughout. No one will ever know the pain we are going through now. This donation will go to helping Charlie, helping my grandson in life.”
Jan Clements said: “We wanted to raise as much as money as possible so that Charlie will benefit from things in the future. We know that the money we raised will be spent wisely to make Charlie’s life as normal as possible.”
Scores of people turned out to say an emotional goodbye to Stephanie and Lili at their funeral in Totton last month.
■ Anthony Marsh, 21, accused of murdering his partner Stephanie and their daughter Lili, is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on May 21.
