AN inquest will be held tomorrow into the unexplained death of a 20-year-old Hampshire student.
The body of Southampton Solent University student Tom Hay, pictured, was discovered on his bedroom floor in January, as previously reported.
Tom was found by his mum as she went to take him a cup of tea after returning to their Chilworth home.
Police said his death was not suspicious but a post-mortem examination was inconclusive and the death remains a mystery.
His family will be hoping for answers when Mid-Hampshire coroner Grahame Short examines the tragedy at the inquest.
After the death, on January 19, devastated mum Vivien spoke of a “healthy and gorgeous young man” who had set his sights on a career in advertising.
At the time she told the Daily Echo: “It’s just unbelievable. Everyone is devastated.”
Tom, who had a part-time job at Waitrose in Chandler’s Ford, had spent the night before his death out with close friends in Portsmouth, but he’d volunteered to drive so he wasn’t drinking.
He returned home in the early hours with his friend and lodger Graham Gilmour and ate a takeaway before going to bed.
His body was found at about 1.45pm that day and police were called to the family home in Chilworth Old Village.
Scores of students joined a funeral procession earlier this year walking behind the hearse as it made its way to Central Hall in St Mary Street.
The inquest takes place at the Former Grand Jury Room in Winchester.
