RARE Iron Age and Tudor coins have been stolen from a Hampshire museum.
Police believe the 21 “historically important” coins could have been taken from a locked display cabinet at Westbury Manor Museum in Fareham during visiting hours.
The haul, valued at about £1,000, included two gold Iron Age coins dating back 2,000 years and 19 silver Tudor coins. There were no signs of a break-in.
PC Faye Bell of Hampshire police said: “We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding how these coins went missing from the display cabinet they were in, and we are very keen to hear from anyone who has information about who took them.
“Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the coins now should also get in touch.”
