DETECTIVES have today arrested a woman after a man was stabbed in a Southampton street.

The 29-year-old is the fourth person to be held by police on suspicion of attempted murder following the knifing last night.

As reported earlier, police had cordoned off several areas in Millbrook while investigations into what happened got underway this morning.

This afternoon part of Pennine Road remains sealed off, but cordons in nearby Quantock Road and the car park and premises of McDonalds and KFC have been lifted.

The victim, in his 20s, is thought to have suffered the stab wound following an incident in that area, before he arrived at Southampton General Hospital around midnight last night.

One 62-year-old man, who lives nearby, said he looked out of his window when he heard a commotion just after 11pm.

He added: "There was banging and crashing, we looked outside and there was a guy who was running down the road. He was being chased by people in a grey or silver car."

Neighbours at the scene said they believed the stab victim had been inside a house in Pennine Road, where he was staying with a woman, but he didn't live there.

Claire Parker, 24, who lives in Chiltern Green, said she was worried at what had happened in her local community.

She said: "We heard shouting and screaming last night, it just sounded like somebody swearing really. It didn't help with trying to get the kids to sleep. It makes me feel scared. I don't feel safe."

The woman and three men - two aged 30 and one aged 24 - have been arrested in connection with the knifing and are currently being held in police custody.
