A CAR has been flipped onto its roof in a crash on a major route out of Southampton.
Ambulance crews have taken one person to hospital following the incident on Thomas Lewis Way, which is causing delays for other motorists in the evening rush hour.
Parts of the A335 - a main route out of the city to the north - have been closed while emergency services are on the scene.
Police said they have shut the northbound carriageway between Bevois Hill and Horseshoe Bridge, while they wait to recover the vehicle.
Heavy traffic has been reported at the bottom of The Avenue as motorists attempt to find alternative routes.
It is not known whether the injured person has been seriously hurt.
