IT is one of the biggest charity events on the Hampshire boating calendar.
Hundreds are expected to turn out and participate or cheer on the gigs as they race across Hamble waters in the fifth annual River Raid today The race is a seven-mile stretch to the Jolly Sailor and back and will take more than an hour to complete.
There will also be activities, a bar and a hog roast.
Spectators will get the chance to go for a gentle row after the event.
Organiser Andy Cunningham said: “It is going to be a great day out. The sun always shines for the river raid.”
The boats need to register at Hamble Quay by 11am to set off at 12pm. Money raised will be donated to Hamble Sea Scouts and Hamble River Rowing Club.
