DAILY Echo readers are being asked to come up with a name for a new café being built in Winchester’s Guildhall.
As part of a £3.2m scheme to renovate the historic building a street level café is being built at the front of the building next to the Abbey Passage and the Broadway.
The winner of the competition will be invited to officially open the café in June along with the Mayor of Winchester as well as the grand opening of the Guildhall in early 2011.
The name should have relevance to Winchester, reflect the image of the new space and have a background story or reason for the suggestion.

The final selection will be made by the members’ working group which includes a cross section of Winchester councillors who currently support and advise the Guildhall refurbishment project. The closing date will be Friday, May 21, 2010.
