FIREFIGHTERS had to close off a road to rescue two pigeons that got tangled up in anti-bird netting on the roof of a four-storey building.
Specialist animal rescue and RSPCA officers couldn't get to the distressed birds so that had to call in an aerial ladder to reach them.
Firefighters from Redbridge station in Southampton waited until 8pm to close The Hundred in Romsey.
Crew manager Mike Stilll said: "They were all tangled up in the nets. One of the birds was still squawking but the other was a bit subdued. We get one or two of these calls every now and again. It's not unheard of."
