EXPLORERS, thrill-seekers and outdoor go-getters will get their chance to show off their best action snaps in a summer- long photo competition to find the city’s adventurer of the year.

From conquering a mountain or dangling from a bungee rope to trekking through the New Forest or simply having fun on a skateboard, at home or on holiday, we will publish readers’ most exciting pictures each week.

See the entrants so far to Adventurer of the Year.

The competition is being backed by new Southampton store GO Outdoors, which was opened yesterday by the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Carol Cunio.

Our judging panel, made up of Daily Echo editor Ian Murray, picture editor Paul Collins, GO Outdoors managing director John Graham and store manager Kevin Fricker, will sift through all the entries at the end of the summer to find an overall winner and award them the title Southampton’s Adventurer of the Year.

The winner will also get £500 of GO Outdoors vouchers and be presented with a plaque at the new Millbrook Road store. All entries will be available to view online.

The closing date for entries was August 20.
