AROUND 2,000 Hampshire homes were left without power as fire crews tackled a burning electricity substation.
About half a dozen homes were sealed off near to where the fire took hold in Hookpit Farm Lane in Kings Worthy, near Winchester, on Sunday evening.
Most of the 2,000 homes were reconnected within two hours.
A Southern Electric spokeswoman apologised for any inconvenience caused by the incident which is being investigated.
