IT’S an early start for an all-female team who will be setting sail for France tomorrow.

The Ladies Who Launch will set off at 3am on a sailing challenge to Cherbourg to raise cash for Help for Heroes.

The 50 women from the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, including famous Hampshire sailor Mike Golding’s wife Alison and record breaker Katie Miller, will take to the water in nine boats.

Southampton Solent University student Katie became the youngest ever female competitor to finish the OSTAR single handed transatlantic race.

The ladies are hoping to beat the £17,000 they raised for the charity after a successful event in 2002. To add your donation to the cause visit justgiving.com/ladieswholaunch.
