A TEENAGE girl has come forward as the mother of the baby girl found dead at a Hampshire railway.

Detectives continue to investigate the case and are working closely with the girl and her family to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detective Superintendent Jason Hogg, from the Major Crime department, said: “This is an extremely difficult case for everyone involved and we would ask people to respect this family’s privacy as they come to terms with what has happened.”

The child was discovered in a carrier bag on Wednesday, by a cleaner at Fleet railway station.
