A JEALOUS boyfriend punched another man in the face after hearing he had kissed his partner while he was in prison.

Joseph Dowdall, 27, saw Sam Bougard buying cigarettes in a shop and when he came out, thumped him in the face before running off.

The victim suffered a displaced bone and had to undergo an operation with a plate being inserted, Southampton Crown Court was told.

Dowdall, of Ashlett Gardens, New Milton, received a 50-week suspended sentence and told to carry out 200 hours unpaid work after he admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Khalid Missouri, defending, said Dowdall had heard Bougard had kissed his partner.

“He was jealous and not happy about it. The attack was not premeditated. He came across him by chance and threw one punch not intending to cause any harm.”
