HAMPSHIRE residents are being warned to be on their guard after police impersonators targeted five homes this afternoon.
The callers struck at two homes in Winchester, one in Hedge End, one in Totton and one in Portsmouth between 4pm and 6pm.
Officers are still investigating the full circumstances of the incidents but believe the same people are responsible for all five-distraction burglaries.
Residents are being reminded that a genuine police officer carries a warrant card to identify themselves with a photograph of the officer, a Hampshire Constabulary Crest and the officer’s identification number.
Residents who are suspicious of callers should contact the police immediately.
Anyone with any information about these incidents should contact Hampshire police on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
