THREE thousand leaflets are being delivered to homes in Southampton this weekend as detectives hunt the people responsible for two vicious knife attacks in the city.
Two men have been left with serious injuries after separate attacks in the Millbrook area of Southampton, which police believe are linked.
As reported in the Daily Echo, a 31-year-old underwent life-saving surgery at Southampton General Hospital after being stabbed in the neck in Pennine Road on the evening of May 12.
Detectives have today revealed a second man has also been the victim of another stabbing incident, just days later in nearby Cheviot Road.
The 20-year-old was stabbed repeatedly in the back during the daytime attack, which happened at around 2.15pm on May 20.
Both victims have now been discharged from hospital and are recovering from their injuries.
Detectives investigating the attacks believe they are connected.
Police officers will be delivering leaflets to homes throughout the estate over the bank holiday weekend as they appeal for anyone with information to tell them what they know.
Detective Inspector Gary Towse, from Shirley CID said: We believe both victims were deliberately targeted and I’m continuing to appeal for help from the public to come forward with information.
“Were you in Pennine Road or Cheviot Road when these stabbings happened?
“Did you see or hear anything?
“If you have any details please call us.”
As well as the leaflet drop, officers will also be at the Tesco supermarket in Tebourba Way between 12pm and 3pm on Wednesday to talk to any witnesses.
Detectives have already made a number of arrests in connection with the attacks.
Three men, two aged 30 and a 24-year-old, and a 29-year-old woman were detained on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the first stabbing.
All four have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
And two Southampton men, aged 23 and 27, have been arrested and released on bail on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following the second knifing.
Anyone with information should call Shirley CID on the non-emergency 101 number, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
