THEY have supported him throughout his childhood and now he wants to give something back.

Simon Archer will complete a gruelling 50-mile cycle in one day to raise money for the Scout Group of which he is now an assistant leader.

The Locks Heath resident will travel from his home crossing through Titchfield, Stubbington, Fareham, Swnamore and Southampton on his round trip.

Having passed through Beavers, Cubs and on to the First Sarisbury Green Scouts, Simon is hoping to raise around £700 for the group to buy new equipment for its current generation of youngsters.

Simon, 30, who works to help young people and adults with autism, said: “I wanted to raise money for the group because they’ve always been good to me.

“They helped me a lot as I became an adult and I just wanted to thank them for that by donating money to them. It’s nice to reward them with something to help them out.”

Simon will get on his bike on July 3. To donate to his cause send donations to 8 Sorrel Close, Locks Heath, Hampshire, SO31 6XY or contact him on 07792 942201.
