HAIRSPRAY star Michael Ball took time out of his busy run at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre to meet some Hampshire foster carers.
Among them were Brian and Barbara Barnes, who won the chance to watch the musical comedy and meet Michael, who is supporting Foster Care Fortnight.
Both Brian and Barbara are foster carers with the Cabrini Children’s Society in Winchester, which is appealing for more people to become foster carers.
Jonquil Mitchell, Cabrini’s senior social work practitioner, said: “At Cabrini we are looking for people who want to make a long-term commitment to children in care.
“We are looking for caring families who can take a damaged child into their heart and help them find their way to adulthood.
“We are also looking for families to care for children with complex disabilities, and respite carers who can offer occasional breaks to our caring families.”
Training, support and allowances are all offered to foster carers.
