SEVERAL events are being planned to raise money for the charities chosen by the new Mayor of Winchester.
Cllr Richard Izard has selected Help for Heroes, the Joe Glover Trust and the Winchester Live at Home scheme.
The events just announced include a fundraising talk by John Knowles, the founder of Marwell Zoo near Owslebury, at 10.30am on Wednesday, June 16. Call 01962 712167 for more details.
Then on June 26, from 10am to 4pm, the mayor will be at The Buttercross in Winchester High Street. He will be leading an event called “pound the pavement” where shoppers will be invited to cover an outline of King Alfred the Great in coins.
Next is an evening of live music in the grounds of Wolvesey, the official residence of the Bishop of Winchester.
The show runs from 7pm to 9.30pm on July 2. Call 01962 890995 to book.
