A 12-year-old boy has been held by police after a brick was hurled at a train smashing through the cab’s window and injuring the driver.
As previously reported in the Daily Echo a brick was thrown from a bridge in Bursledon as the 2.33pm train from Brighton station travelled along the tracks below.
Despite the 43-year-old driver having glass in his eye, he continued the Southern service back to Southampton Central Station before paramedics rushed him to Southampton General Hospital.
Detectives arrested a 15-year-old from Sarisbury Green on suspicion of endangering safety immediately after the attack when British Transport Police launched the investigation. A 13-year-old from Sarisbury Green was arrested the next day.
Now a 12-year-old, also from Sarisbury Green, has also been arrested.
All three have been released on police bail pending further enquiries and will return on Monday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 16.
