THE long-awaited decision on when a Hampshire lido might finally reopen is due to be made tonight.
It had been hoped Lymington Sea Water Baths would be back in business for the bank holiday, but the opening was called off at the last minute and postponed until this weekend.
But with some jobs still not finished, it may be next week – when the kids are back at school – before residents can get back in the 176-year-old pool.
The lido was closed last year over safety grounds, and the town council must prove it has addressed any potential health and safety issues before the public can use it again.
Councillors were due to visit the site last night.
Town clerk Pat Higgins said: “I don’t think anyone would thank us if we didn’t do the job properly.”
