I am not sure I can remember a time when I wasn’t pregnant, it seems to have gone on forever this time.
While I was at work the months seemed to fly by but since I have been off it seems the only thing occupying me is my rate of expansion.
I seem to have dedicated most of my time to house-based activities. My freezer is stocked full of curries, chillis and the like to see us through the dark days of early newborn action.
I recall last time not having the energy or time to even turn the oven on so this time I am determined to eat well without getting on first name terms with the pizza delivery man.
My freezer is a wonder to behold. All the Tupperware – which I actually got excited about buying – is stacked up and labelled with all manner of concoctions.
I actually showed it off to my mum the other day, I was so proud of my achievement.
It doesn’t end there.
I informed a colleague from work who rang the other day about the versatility of a bolognaise sauce, I jest not. Poor man, he didn’t deserve that.
I am being told it is the ‘nesting’ reaction to the upcoming arrival, but I fear this is simply a sign of the times and becoming a mother of two has had some mind-altering effect.
This nesting business doesn’t seemed to have extended to any other area of the house. The hoover is still at the back of the cupboard and I didn’t have a problem with Ben etching a car in the dust on the television screen.
Bless him, he’s noticed mum isn’t as much fun as she used to be, although he is revelling in the opportunity to win pretty much every race he challenges me to.
He doesn’t seem to be in the least bit embarrassed about having his mum waddle after him, screaming at him to ‘put his brakes on’ before he reaches the end of the pavement.
Anyway, fingers crossed for a bit of birthing action by the time I next write this as I am due this very week. At the very least I want to start tucking into the array of food in the freezer before it buckles under the weight of another homemade soup.
