A DATE has been set for the public inquiry that will decide the fate of Barton Farm in Winchester.
The eight-day hearing will start on February 8 next year where developer, Cala Homes, will present its case.
The firm is preparing for another vital battle with campaigners trying to save the greenfield site. Both sides are heading to the High Court in London next Friday for a test case. Cala is seeking to argue that the Coalition Government cannot scrap regional planning targets until a new policy is approved.
The South East Plan called for 12,000 new homes in the Winchester district by 2026, making the development of Barton Farm more likely.
If Cala wins not only will it strengthen its own case for 2,000 homes, but those of building firms nationwide.
Save Barton Farm Group plans to bring a team of activists to protest outside the court.
