STUDENTS at Fareham College will have the chance to boost their geographical studies thanks to the installation of a new weather station.
It is hoped the new technology will be able to feed into the Met Office database and help geography students to get to grips with the science of forecasting.
Colin Espeseth, a maths and physics lecturer who was the man behind the idea, said: “We use a lot of data analysis in geography along with statistics and the weather station might enable us to analyse trends in our local weather.
“We should be able to give live updates for Fareham from the college so we can put the information on our website.
“This would be useful for informing students in case of any closures or severe weather conditions.”
Launch to be a swinging start YOUNGSTERS at Thornhill Primary school are set to swing into action with the launch of their new adventure playground on Friday.
The event will be hosted by Groundwork Solent – an environmental charity that has played an essential role in creating and developing the playground.
The launch will see pupils test out the latest addition, giving it their seal of approval before the ribbon is cut.
