STROKE victims have vowed to do all they can to finance their support group after council chiefs withdrew funding.
Hampshire Stroke Association has been told it will lose a £60,000 grant from Hampshire County Council from April next year.
The charity, which runs six communication support groups across the county, provides help and support to stroke survivors with communication difficulties.
Three of the six centres – in Hordle, Ringwood and Petersfield – face certain closure if they cannot find alternative funding, charity chiefs have said.
Katherine Staley, regional manager of the Stroke Association, said: “We are trying to stop the decision to cut the funding by lobbying local councillors and MPs. We are going to give them a list of signatures and try and get them to meet with us.”
The county council has blamed Government cuts for ending the Stroke Association’s grant.
