OLD hands Dave Brown and Andy Attrill admit they are struggling with the world pool rules which were introduced into the Southampton & District Social Clubs League in 2008.
Brown, 48, and Attrill, 42, play for Woolston & District Trades & Labour Club who rejoined the league this season after a two-year break.
Brown questioned whether a quick game makes a better game.
He said: “The new rules make it more difficult for us because we’re just not used to it.
“In the first few games we probably lost three or four frames just through mistakes.
“A ball’s got to hit the cushion every time, which is just very odd.
“It makes a more open game. Whether it makes it better or not, I don’t know. Is a quick game a better game? Not necessarily. It depends whether you win or lose, doesn’t it?”
Attrill added: “In the first game, I struggled with the rules. I should’ve won. I had two shots on the black but rather than hitting the cushion, I set it up to pot it. Of course, it was two shots away.”
