ROMSEY’S MP has stood up for people who were infected with contaminated blood products in hospitals during the 1980s.
Speaking during a Commons debate, Caroline Nokes, pictured, said: “These products were for many a death sentence and if not that, then certainly a route to a life of pain, for many a life of poverty, and for too many years successive Government’s who did not give them a public inquiry or fair compensation.”
Mrs Nokes added that her affected constituents were “not compensation chasers” – just decent people, who have been struggling for years with hideous conditions, through no fault of their own.
“They cannot get life insurance, they cannot get travel insurance if they want to go abroad, and they have lost children, loved ones, friends, and nearly 30 years on they are fed up with struggling, physically, financially and mentally,” said the Conservative MP.
