A SINGLE mum who started a fire in her flat had a bail application rejected for her own protection.
Rachel O’Shea, 24, had pleaded guilty at Southampton Crown Court to arson reckless as to whether life of another would be endangered. She was charged following a fire in Chiltern Green, Millbrook, on October 18 in which she set fire to curtains. The incident happened less than a month after she was placed on supervision for attacking a police officer.
Rejecting a bail application, Judge Derwin Hope said although her mental state had improved in the last week, she was still “fragile”. O’Shea will be sentenced on November 17.
