MOTORISTS faced huge delays along the M27 this morning after highways engineers changed the traffic signals on a busy junction.
Westbound traffic was delayed as tailbacks snarled up for miles along the motorway from junction three to the Eastleigh turnoff at junction five.
The Highways Agency said the traffic signals at the junction three M271 roundabout had been switched to fixed time phases due to resurfacing work taking place.
The local ROMANSE traffic centre warned that drivers should expect delays, especially during peak time.
It added the traffic signals should return to their normal phasing sometime this week.
One angry motorist said: “It was chaos. The worst thing was people were cutting through the services which was making it worse.”
