First poppy for for first citizen
SOUTHAMPTON’S first poppy of the year was handed to mayor Carol Cunio.
Secretary of the Southampton branch of the Royal British Legion Archie Parsons presented the red flower at WestQuay shopping centre to mark the start of the 2010 Poppy Appeal. It is tradition for the first poppy to be given to the mayor before they go on sale across the city.
