Winchester preservation watchdogs last night hailed the best recent examples of local architecture.
The City of Winchester Trust acclaimed the Trinity Centre and the University Centre on Sparkford Road as the best new buildings.
A sustainability award for best refurbishment was the county council’s Queen Elizabeth II Court.
Design awards for refurbishments were also given to the Discovery Centre at the library on Jewry Street and the new lighting of the Hospital of St Cross.
Trust members also voted for the building as their favourite, praising the way the revamp has softened its impact on the cityscape.
