POPPY petals were sprinkled to honour our fallen heroes.

Eastleigh’s war veterans were joined by schoolchildren, as different generations came together to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Members of the Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford and District branch of the Royal British Legion kept with tradition to launch the two-week build up to Remembrance Day.

Pupils from The Crescent and Cherbourg Primary Schools sprinkled poppies around the Leigh Road War Memorial, watched by veterans.

This was followed by laying of 20 crosses by branch members, led by the Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor John Caldwell.
