DETECTIVES are hunting a thug who attacked a Hampshire taxi driver leaving him with a fractured jaw.
The 40-year-old driver was punched in the face several times when he asked the male customer for the fare, in the early hours of Saturday.
The violent assault happened as the driver pulled up in White Hart Lane, near to the Wicor Mill pub in Portchester, just after 3am. As he turned to ask for the fare, which was just over £20, he was thumped repeatedly before the man fled in the direction of Foxbury Grove.
Police are keen to speak to the bare-chested good Samaritan who flagged the taxi driver down after the incident to ask if he was all right.
The attacker is described as being in his mid 20s, about 5ft 10ins, with ginger hair and was wearing a white top and trainers. Anyone with information should contact Fareham police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
