MORE than 100 people have visited a travelling public exhibition to find out more about plans to site an offshore wind park west of the Isle of Wight.
Eneco hopes to develop around 30 per cent of the zone into a wind park, which could provide renewable energy for more than 600,000 homes.
The company held an event in Weymouth on Monday, and yesterday took it to the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth, where people were asked their views including where the wind park should be situated.
Eneco, one of the largest energy companies in The Netherlands, says the Wind Park will provide jobs for local people.
Chris Sherrington, Eneco project director offshore, said: “So far we have had a very positive reaction from people who came to the public exhibition. They had an opportunity to see the work that we’ve been doing.
“We have been able to explain what we feel the benefits of the scheme are. It will mean that Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will be making a very significant contribution to the UK’s renewable targets.”
