A TEENAGER woke up to find three men creeping into her Southampton bedroom.

The 19-year-old woman student, of Coventry Road, The Polygon, was asleep in bed when she was suddenly woken by the sound of her door opening between 1.50am and 2am.

She sat up in bed and screamed out as saw three hooded men coming into her room.

The three intruders ran off while the teenager alerted the other housemates in the six-bedroom student house before calling police.

The burglars dumped a TV from the house in the back garden as they fled.

Police say it is unknown how the men got into the home but they left through the front door.

Officers have now appealed for any information about the burglary, which took place on Monday morning.

The suspects are described as about the same height 5ft 10ins, skinny and wearing hoods or beanie hats.

Police are warning students in the city to be extra vigilant as there has been a spate of burglaries in The Polygon area.

Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the crimes are connected.

Just hours earlier that same morning, between 12pm and 1am, and just two streets along, burglars broke into a home in Newcombe Road through the front door and stole a laptop.

On Monday evening between 5.50pm and 6pm, thieves forced their way into a home in Cromwell Road, The Polygon and stole a Sony laptop.

Helen Ward, burglary investigation co-ordinator, said: “I would like to urge all students, in particular those living in The Polygon area, to be vigilant following this spate of burglaries.”

Anyone with information about the burglaries should contact Helen Ward, at the priority crime unit in Hulse Road on 023 8059 9997 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
