COMEDIENNE Jo Brand swapped jokes for a funny hat as she picked up an honorary degree from Southampton Solent University.
The writer and TV star joined graduating students at Southampton Guildhall yesterday to receive the honorary award of Doctor of Media.
Starting her career in a Dr Barnardo’s home, Jo worked as a psychiatric nurse before turning to comedy, using her experiences as inspiration for TV sitcoms and novels, as well as the guest lectures she delivers.
More than 2,000 students are graduating from Solent University at ceremonies throughout this week
