HAMPSHIRE County Council is looking for people to adopt up to 60 children who have been taken into its care.

A bid to encourage more people to adopt has been launched to coincide with National Adoption Week.

The council’s adoption service is looking for people to provide loving, stable and permanent homes for children separated from their birth families.

Many have suffered abuse or neglect or come from troubled backgrounds.

Councillor Roy Perry, executive member for children’s services, said: “Children come into our care for a variety of reasons but one thing they all have in common is a need to be part of a loving care home.

“We place few babies for adoption so if you are able to look after older children, children with special needs or feel you can give a home to more than one child, so that brothers and sisters can live and grow up together, please do contact us.”
