A CAMPAIGNER battling against plans for a bus route between two Hampshire towns is taking her fight to the Supreme Court on Monday.
Viv Morge has been attempting to stop Hampshire County Council building a £20m high speed bus link from Fareham to Gosport on the grounds that it will harm rare wildlife.
The environmentalist was granted leave to appeal a legal matter after a separate Supreme Court hearing earlier this year.
Building work began on the scheme after Law Lords refused to grant an injunction to stop workmen moving in.
Next week’s hearing will focus on a point of law regarding the interpretation of a section of the European Habitats Directive.
Planners approved proposals to build the link on a three-mile stretch of disused railway track in a bid to ease congestion on roads in the area.
Mrs Morge, of Wych Lane in Gosport, contested the decision arguing it would have a devastating effect on the homes of badgers and bats.
But Lord Justice Ward said in the Court of Appeal that the track was now needed to cut traffic by creating a rapid bus service and cycle lane with access roads.
It is unclear whether a ruling will be made straight after Monday’s hearing.
