POLICE have cordoned off an area of Totton High Street as a wooden canopy started dropping from above a bank.
CCTV operators noticed the roof above the walkway around Totton Shopping Centre precinct had begun to collapse around 3.15pm today.
It has come away from its supporting pole and the canopy has begun to sag towards the pavement.
For the safety of shoppers, police have cordoned the area around Barclays Bank and a surveyor from New Forest Borough Council is assessing the situation.
