Tom's Shoes, although not originally designed to be mainstream shoes, are gradually becoming more and more popular among teenagers across the country, as they are not only casual and comfy but have an ethical cause: 'One For One'. This means that with every pair of shoes purchased, the company will give one pair to a child in need. In my opinion, more brands like this should have a place in the fashion industry as this is a really worthwhile cause - and also gives you a 'moral' excuse to buy just one more pair of shoes!

In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One.™ Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers.
Thanks to supporters, TOMS is now on track to give the One Millionth Pair of new shoes to a child in need this September 2010.
Looking good while doing good, you don't have to go far to have an impact. Wearing TOMS around your community is great, and spreading the One for One movement is as easy as having conversations with those around you.
